Import from chats and bookmarks
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Group chats are where a lot of good links end up, and where they are hardest to find again. Stashly can read a chat export and keep every link in it, along with who shared it and when.
Imports live in Settings, Import & export. Large files are sent in batches of 500 links, and you can watch each batch go through. Links you already saved are not added twice; any tags from the import are added to the existing save instead.
Open the chat in WhatsApp on your phone.
Tap the chat name, then Export chat, and choose Without media.
Save or send yourself the .txt file, then upload it in Stashly.
Telegram
Telegram only exports chats from the desktop app.
In Telegram Desktop, open the chat and choose Export chat history from the menu.
Untick photos, videos and files, and set the format to Machine-readable JSON.
Upload the result.json file in Stashly.
Browser bookmarks
Every major browser exports bookmarks as an HTML file. In Chrome, open the Bookmark manager, then the menu, then Export bookmarks. In Safari, use File, Export, Bookmarks. In Firefox, open Manage bookmarks, then Import and Backup, Export Bookmarks to HTML. Upload the file in Stashly.
Anything else
A .txt, .md, .csv or .html file with links in it works too. Stashly finds the web addresses in it and ignores the rest.
What is kept
From a chat export, Stashly keeps each link, who shared it and when. The rest of the conversation is not stored. Pictures, titles and descriptions are fetched afterwards, so a large import can take a few minutes to fill in.
